Trophy Truck 1L started the 2019 San Felipe 250 in the twenty second position in the mix of trophy trucks and trophy truck legends. Gus underwent surgery two weeks before the race and could not pilot the race for this time, so off road legend, Jerry Whelchel took over Gus’ driving duties. Jerry started off the line alongside copilot Adam Shreve. They had a right rear flat around race mile 80, which cost them a 3:03 minute setback. At race mile 139 Scott Bailey took over the wheel and had a perfect race all the way to the finish line, finishing 14th overall and first in trophy truck legends.
This was just the beginning of the 2019 Score International season for Gus and Scott, they are now preparing for the Baja 500 in June, ready to take the victory once again.
We started the San Felipe 250 in 5th place. Arriving at mile 15 through Puertecitos we passed Gaty Magness without any problem. At mile 30 we passed to Apdaly who was changing a tire and we positioned ourselves in third place, maintaining a constant and safe speed to avoid any setbacks; we could see the dust that Ryan Arciero had been leaving on the track.
We continued like this for approximately 10 more miles and Javi noticed that the right rear tire was losing air. At that time I felt a bit frustrated since I had slowed down to keep the car safe. We change the tire quickly (1.50 min) keeping our same position on the race. When we went down to Matomi, Luke Macmillin approached us and now he was 30 seconds behind us. When we left Matomi, we were still 30 seconds ahead, and when we went to Morelia where the ground began to get more dangerous because of the holes, we had a 50-second lead. In that part we separate ourselves from Luke.
Four miles later the drive by wire began to fail, at first it started to fail just a little, but as we advanced the Trophy Truck began to lose power and at one point the trophy truck couldn’t exceed the 10 miles per hour. We stopped to solve the problem and we realized that what happened was that the box that controls the extinguisher of the fire suppressor was loose and that was interrupting the action of the drive by wire motor.
Javi solved it quickly, but during that time Luke took the lead, so now we were in fourth place. We continued in the race and we had marking in the GPS that a small hole was approaching, which was incorrect, it was really a deep hole, but we marked that hole wrong, I saw the hole and decided to take it aggressively but that was a bad idea. The front part passed the hole, but the back hit the ground causing the back to rise and putting the front part hitting the ground and rolling over twice.
It was a hard hit. After an hour of checking the Trophy we decided to go ahead. Arriving at Pit 1 at mile 140 they checked that everything was in order and we could continue, the only problem was that the transmission was pouring out oil and on a clime the transmission stopped working. We thought about changing it, but some screws got caught in the flex plate and that caused the end of the race for us. Unfortunately, an error in Morelia cost us the race.
In the qualification, the hydraulic steering band went off at mile 11 of 16. We were doing it great, averaging 70.1 MPH up to that point. They fixed it and we were the last to arrive, so we came out in last. In the first round of four I passed 6 cars running, we were doing very well. I got a flat tire on lap 1, and after went out of the pit we were in 8th position, 4 minutes behind the leader in corrected time (which was almost the time that what we lost by the flat tire).
I was very angry. Halfway through starting the second lap I got another flat tire, both of them for pushing hard because we start at last place, and I lost another 2-3 minutes changing the tire.
After the second flat tire we were at 9th place, and after finishing the second lap we stopped at the pit for service.
We started the third round in 6th or 7th place, and in a third part of the lap the band went out, but this time it was the oil band. No pressure ... (After we realized that the direction band was the one that took off the oil band). We last 30 minutes putting the oil band. After we put the band, we got into the TT, and the TT didn’t start! The starter broke down completely. We were stuck, waiting without knowing if the TT will start or not, and it didn’t. We lost another 30-40 minutes for this situation.
The TT finally started, we left to finish the third lap, but after finishing the third lap they gave us a red flag. We couldn’t continue the fourth lap for time! And the race finished.
After a hard week of pre-running, Saturday morning brought on the normal upset stomach and nerves pre-race.
Gustavo Vildosola my racing partner started off the line 26th among the Trophy Trucks and did a incredible job in spit of the extremely rough terrain and dust.
Handing the truck over at race mile 192 we did a Tire, fuel and driver change right at 2 min. immediately upon getting the truck we had the next 100 miles of what I would consider the roughest race course I’ve ever driven.
Not only are the holes 3 and 4 feet deep they are spaced very close together causing you to not being able to get on top of them without losing control or feeling like you are going to wreck the truck. At Race mile 228 after coming out of the washes we were experiencing the truck overheating and pulled over to cool down the truck. At this point we had a 45 min. lead unfortunately the overheating would result in losing most of the lead and require us to make up the 15 minutes that the second place truck started behind us.
Upon resuming the race. We would put the gas pedal down at speeds up to 118 MPH and regain a 15 minute lead unfortunately after 7 hours of racing we would come up 3 seconds short and have to settle for 2nd in Class.
Vildosola Racing would like to thank their sponsors for this 2017 season: MexLog, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, Toyo Tires, Method Race Wheels, Telcel, Freightliner,Don Fileto, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs.
La Paz, BCS, November 21, 2017 - After 23:43:38 of intense racing through the Baja peninsula, full of adrenaline and obstacles, Vildosola Racing’s team 21L achieved the ultimate feat: to conquer the Baja 1000 in its 50th edition.
This was an extraordinary team effort: starting in Ensenada in the 20th position, Gustavo Vildósola behind the wheel started advancing positions and maintained a constant and efficient pace, allowing him to climb a several positions.
At race mile 312, Rodrigo Ampudia , the second driver of the team took over driving duties of TT21L and maintained a firm rhythm to defend their position as leaders of their class. Then at race mile 540 it was third driver, Mike Coleman’s turn to drive the Vildosola Racing Trophy Truck. Mike spent his night fighting through hours of extreme fog from San Juanico to Loreto and was successful at keeping the truck in it’s good position.
The trophy truck’s race day would end with the team’s fourth and final driver: Stronghold Motorsports’ Scott Bailey who started his driving duties at race mile 835 and all the way to the checkered flag in La Paz being the first Trophy Truck Legend to finish after a grueling 23 hrs 43 min of racing.
Victor Valenzuela and Adam Shreve who are also Vildosola Racing’s vehicle’s mechanics performed their vehicle prep and co-driving tasks with Gustavo and Rodrigo in an excellent manner.
With impeccable logistics prepared by team manager Steve Lewis, and an excellent preparation of the trophy truck by the Vildosola Racing shop- led by Javi Valenzuela, Team 21L was crowned champions of the 50th edition of the SCORE International Baja 1000. Huge congratulations to the entire team on being the first TT Legends to win a Baja 1000.
For this 50th edition of the Baja 1000, another second-generation racer, Andy McMillin joined forces with Tavo to pilot the #31 McMillin trophy truck.
Despite leading for over half the race, Tavo Vildósola and Andy Mcmillin had to abandon the race in race mile 554 due to Engine failure.
After starting in 3rd position, Andy McMillin set the pace during the first half of the Baja 1000. Starting in Ensenada, he positioned himself as the leader during the beginning of the race, handing over the TT31 to Tavo Vildósola in the overall lead at race mile 540. However, a loss of engine oil pressure would force the duo to abandon the race after 554 miles.
Tavo and Andy, who are two of the most renowned drivers in off road racing, were among the favorites to win the Baja 1000, however, mechanical issues interfered with their hard preparation and dedication, changing the outcome of their race day.
The two drivers said it best on their social media: This is Baja, and this time SHE won.
Vildosola Racing would like to thank their sponsors for this 2017 season: MexLog, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, Toyo Tires, Method Race Wheels, Telcel, Freightliner,Don Fileto, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs.
In more than 20 years of existence, Vildosola Racing has been characterized by being a professional and highly competitive team, proving it race after race, on and off the race course. To be the best we must have the best team; Vildosola Racing welcomes our newest partner, Don Fileto.
Don Fileto is a Mexican company from Baja California, specifically from Mexicali, the same birthplace of Vildosola Racing!
Together, we will continue our success in Mexico, the United States and continue our work of making our country proud.
Welcome Don Fileto.
Reno, NV, August, 20 2017 - What seemed almost impossible was achieved; The #21 TSCO Trophy Truck, driven by Tavo Vildosola and Andy McMillin rallied 43 positions and finished 5th in the 2017 General Tires "Vegas To Reno".
The team had a significant setback during qualifying on Wednesday morning at APEX, where an issue with the steering system sent them to position 48 in the starting line. Tavo and Andy managed to finish the race in 5th position with a total time of 9 hours 25 minutes and 34 seconds, finishing Vegas To Reno in the Top 5.
The alliance between Tavo and Andy raised expectations and continues after the great feat on Friday as they are currently two of the best drivers in Off Road racing. They come from two great legacies in the history of this sport, the Vildósola and McMillin families.
Vildosola Racing is now preparing for the upcoming SCORE International Baja 1000, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a peninsula run. Vildosola Racing has been crowned absolute champion on two prior occasions at this extremely challenging race.
We thank our sponsors for their continuous support: MexLog, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, Toyo Tires, Method Race Wheels, Telcel, Freightliner, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs.
Wednesday June 7, 2017
After starting 15th in the last SCORE International Baja 500 2017, Vildosola Racing finalized its participation in mile 343 after a problem with the suspension. However, the work of Tavo and Javi in the Trophy Truck helped them to recover positions in the first few miles of the race where they maintained a firm and aggressive rhythm.
The Mexican team, who were the current champions of the Baja 500 after being crowned as absolute winners in the 2016 edition, was close to repeating this feat; around Ojos Negros the TT21 was already in first place in corrected time and continued to be until Valle de la Trinidad at mile 240 .
In the same way they began to recover their physical position. Having started in position no.15, this situation did not present itself as a major problem, as can be seen in the history of the team's career, with great feats like in San Felipe 2014 where they started in the penultimate position and were crowned absolute champions.
Unfortunately somewhere around San Felipe, a problem with the suspension made the TT21 stop, the team realized that even with a great effort in changing this part, the time wouldn't be enough to be placed in the top positions.
In this way Vildosola Racing closes half of the year and focuses on its next objective: Vegas to Reno in August.
We thank our sponsors: MexLog, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, Toyo Tires, Method Race Wheels, Telcel, Freightliner, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs.
"The biggest mobile phone company in Mexico"

Sunday, April 2, 2017, San Felipe, Baja California
Led by Gustavo Vildosola, Vildosola Racing makes history again at the 31st SCORE International San Felipe 250, being crowned the first ever champion of the new class Trophy Truck Legends.
With a time of 5:22:19, Trophy Truck # 21 driven by Gustavo Vildósola and navigated by Victor Valenzuela, swept the class and managed to position themselves in the top 20 in a race of more than 200 participants and drivers from more than 10 Countries.
They started the day with the 22nd starting position due to a minor roll over at qualifying on Thursday morning. Fortunately, it was a completely clean day for Gustavo and Victor; no mechanical setbacks and excellent driving helped them gain positions.
It’s worth mentioning that this is not the first time that Vildosola Racing makes history in the world of Off Road. In 2010 they became the first Mexican team to win the Baja 1000 and two years later they would repeat this feat, adding to a great list of triumphs in Mexico and the United States, turning them into an international reference of this sport.
Vildosola Racing has a good record in San Felipe after winning the absolute championship 4 times, starting in 2003 and then 3 years in a row in; 2013, 2014, and 2015 making this the 5th win in the books for Vildosola Racing.
On another note, Trophy Truck # 40 driven by Tavo Vildósola and Javi Valenzuela, finalized its participation in the race at mile 141 after battling for the top 3 positions throughout the day. Due to mechanical issues, Chris Miller and Cantina Racing's Trophy Truck # 40 failed to cross the finish line, but plans to return stronger for the Baja 500.
Vildosola Racing now prepares for their next race, the Baja 500 in Ensenada, in which they are current absolute champions after taking home 1st place it in its 2016 edition.
We thank our sponsors, without them, this wouldn’t be possible: MexLog, Branix, Station 21, Interprotection, Toyo Tires, Method Race Wheels, Freightliner, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs and Baja Traveler.
Las Vegas NV, Sunday March 5th 2017
After technical complications that caused the team to lose oil pressure to the engine, TT#21 driven by Tavo Vildósola and navigated by Javi Valenzuela ended their participation at the beginning of lap 3 of 3 after having remained among the 10 fastest and led for most of the first lap in the 2017 Polaris RZR BITD Mint 400.
After qualifying eleventh on Thursday, Tavo and Javi started alongside BJ Baldwin immediately leaving him on their dust at the start of the race. Trick Truck #21 climbed positions during the first lap with a good race pace and strategy, the team has repeatedly shown that starting from behind allows them to be more aggressive.
Although the team worked almost perfectly with logistics adequate to several situations that arose during the race, the circumstances did not allow the team to be crowned for the first time as overall champion of the Mint 400, which would have represented a new chapter for Vildosola Racing in the United States.
Vildosola Racing will continue its preparation and looks forward to the San Felipe 250 on April 1st, 2017, a race which was won with three consecutive times (2013, 2014, 2015) and four times overall by Vildosola Racing. The team hopes that in 2017, they can add another overall victory to their long history in Off Road.
We would like to thank our sponsors: MexLog, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, ToyoTires, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Method Race Wheels, Freightliner, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs and Baja Traveler.
November 20, 2016
With an official time of 18:02:30, Vildosola Racing finished fourth in this 2016 SCORE International Baja 1000, with a course of approximately 854 miles that started and finished in the port of Ensenada.
After a complicated qualifying run in Las Vegas, Trophy Truck number 21 placed in the 19th starting position. The strategy of the team was modified according to these circumstances, even though starting far behind and making their way up to the front of the pack is a Vildosola Racing specialty.
Mechanically, it was a clean race, even though the race course and the lack of wind were key factors in the competition. The excellent performance of Tavo as the driver, and Javi taking care of the navigation and the perfect logistical planning and execution of the race plan by the team, made the difference.
With this Baja 1000, Vildosola Racing closes this 2016 season with three races, taking first overall in the Baja 500.
The team will now start to prepare for the 2017 season, where they will aim to race in both SCORE and Best in The Desert series.
We would like to thank our sponsors who help make our racing possible: MexLog, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, Toyo Tires, Method Race Wheels, Freightliner, Mastercraft Safety, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs and Baja Traveler.
June 5 2016
The Baja 500 remained unconquered terrain for the top notch Mexican team. With difficult years in Baja 1000 loop and previous Baja 500's, for the first time Vildosola racing placed first overall at the 48th Baja 500.
After a tough qualifying round and having started in 13th position this Saturday, Tavo Vildosola and Javi Valenzuela dominated the course from start to finish. Tavo’s characteristic driving style, Javi’s navigation skills and the team’s excellent preparation of TT#21 led the truck to the front of the pack. Not to mention the mastermind Gus Vildosola behind the Mexican team's logistics, added one more victory to the long list of triumphs accumulated in the last years.
With a time of 8:20:55 and a average speed of 56.86 mph Vildosola Racing dominated the terrain between Ensenada and San Felipe, proving that once again team work is the key to success.
Vildosola Racing is an internationally respected team, winning races in both Mexico and the USA, representing Mexico in the highest way possible.
Today it wasn’t just Vildosola’s win but a win for all Mexicans.
Vildosola Racing would like to thank their sponsors, without them this wouldn’t be possible: MexLog, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, ToyoTires, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Method Race Wheels, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs, Ion Camera y Baja Traveler.
After conquering the overall championship of the San Felipe 250 three times in a row, the fourth slipped away from our hands due to mechanical difficulties”.
After leading in time through most of their race, Trophy Truck #21 driven by Tavo Vildósola and co-driver Javi Valenzuela, was forced to abandoned the competition at race mile 138, due to oil pressure loss in the engine in the 2016 San Felipe 250.
The day was tough on every team, with over 50% of trophy truck teams forced to desert the competition due mechanical problems. The arduous course in this edition of the San Felipe 250 was a major factor and the common denominator in the outcome of the affected racers.
The team worked flawlessly in terms of logistics, prepared for any situation during the race, the circumstances did not align for Vildosola Racing to win its 4th consecutive San Felipe 250, which would have made history in the off-road world, being that in 2015 the team achieved their 3rd consecutive overall championship in this race.
After 30 years of alliance with BF Goodrich Tires, Vildosola Racing was presented an opportunity with the goal of maintaining its’ commitment to continuous improvement in the quest for excellence.
BF Goodrich has been with us through the most important moments of our career. During this time, we’ve travelled thousands of miles together on the road to victory. We leave a historical legacy in the sport and we would like to thank BFG for its’ loyalty and support throughout the years.
We are proud to announce our partnership with Toyo Tires in which we foresee a future full of interesting projects that will give a unique scope to the team. This, giving us an opportunity to search for new roads to victory in Mexico, the US, or wherever racing takes us.
Toyo Tires is known in the elite world of motor racing for being a brand of champions and innovation. We are certain that this union will benefit the team by bringing new opportunities that only the best in the world can achieve.
Welcome to Vildosola Racing.
A new journey is about to begin.
The team closes the 2015 season with another victory
December 7, 2015, Las Vegas, NV.- It was only a couple days prior to the race that the team decided they would compete. With only 1 ½ days of preparation after the Baja 1000, Vildosola Racing had a great race and finished first overall in the last race of the year in Best In the Desert.
After qualifying 11th, Tavo and Javi started the race and kept their well known strategy based on speed and intelligence. Thanks to this, the Team completed their participation at the Henderson 250 with a time of 3 hours and 45 minutes, enough to position the team as the absolute champions.
This was the second time that Vildosola Racing participated in this race. In 2006 the Mexican team raced Henderson for the first time and won.
With this, the team finished the year proving that Mexican drivers are at the highest level of international off road racing. In 2015 the team conquered three overall 1st places in SCORE and achieved several podium finishes in US and Mexican territory. Now the team continues its preparation for the 2016 SCORE World Championship starting with the 30th San Felipe 250 in February.
Vildosola Racing thanks its sponsors: Mexicana Logistics, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, Red Bull Mexico, BF Goodrich, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, MSD Ignition, Neo Oil, Method Race Wheels, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs, Ion Camera y Baja Traveler.
2015 proved to be a great season for Vildosola Racing, who lead in SCORE World Desert Championship for the majority of the year. The Mexican team finished the year with a 6th place at the 48th Bud Light SCORE International Baja 1000 that took place November 20th in the beautiful city of Ensenada, Baja California.
Trophy Truck #21, driven by Tavo Vildosola and his co-driver Javi Valenzuela, started this Baja 1000 in the second position. This race could have been a chance to make history in off road racing, with the opportunity for Vildosola Racing to become the first Mexican National team to win the points championship, which has been dominated by US drivers for years.
The Vildosola Racing trophy truck had an excellent performance in the race, but unfortunately an incident kept them at a standstill for 45 minutes, complicating their chance for victory.
With a time of 17:07:45, Vildosola Racing finished the race in sixth place, bringing an end to a year of multiple victories on both sides of the border, including a 3peat at the San Felipe 250. Vildosola Racing concluded 2015 with a 3rd position in the SCORE World Desert Championship, maintaining their position among top teams in off road racing, and the only mexican team to have won the Baja 1000 twice.
Vildosola Racing thanks its sponsors: Mexicana Logistics, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, Red Bull Mexico, BF Goodrich, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, MSD Ignition, Neo Oil, Method Race Wheels, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs, Ion Camera y Baja Traveler.
Wednesday November 5th 2015, Las Vegas, NV.- At the SEMA Show, the biggest event in the automotive industry, Vildosola Racing participated in the qualifying round for the 2015 Tecate-SCORE Baja 1000 and, after some close competition, the Mexican team will be starting second on 20th November in Ensenada.
With a time of 3:48 minutes Tavo and Javi shook the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Trophy Truck #21, this time with a yellow paint scheme, perfectly executed the surface changes of the bends and jumps that the track presented, on a completely different terrain to what drivers face in the Baja 1000.
With a high probability of being crowned as SCORE International’s 2015 overall champion, Gustavo Vildosola’s team is in continuous preparation for the race, which is just around the corner.
It's only a matter of days before we know whether the team from Baja California will become the first Mexican team to win the overall SCORE International championship. November 20th 2015, the 105th anniversary of the Mexican revolution, could be the beginning to another revolution, this time in off road racing.
Vildosola Racing would like to thank their sponsors: Mexicana Logistics, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, Red Bull, BF Goodrich, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Method Race Wheels, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs, Ion Camera y Baja Traveler.
September 28 2015.- With extreme heat and a difficult terrain, Vildosola Racing won first place overall in the second edition of the Rigid Industries Imperial Valley 250 this past saturday in the Coyne Powersports Motorplex.
Trophy Truck #21 driven by Tavo Vildosola and Javi Valenzuela as the copilot, started first off the line alongside Steven Eugenio, with whom he would fight for first place most of the race, but it would be until the last miles that the winner was decided.
Excellent pit and chase work helped perform an excellent race plan as drawn by Team Vildosola.
Vildosola Racing continues fighting for the lead in the SCORE International 2015 POINTS championship. The winning team will be decided after the Baja 1000 which for the first time in history could be a Mexican team.
Vildosola Racing would like to thank their sponsors: Mexicana Logistics, Branix, Estación 21, Interprotección, Red Bull, BF Goodrich, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Method Race Wheels, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs, Ion Camera y Baja Traveler.
Vildosola Racing congratulates Apdaly Lopez for being the first Mexican driver to win the Baja 500.
With a race time of 8:55:04 Vildosola Racing returned to a top 5 finish at the Baja 500, securing a 4th place finish in one of the most difficult races in the SCORE International championship that took place this past Saturday June 6th, in a new race track that started and finished in Ensenada and went through places like La Rumorosa and La Laguna Salada.
The mexican team represented by Tavo Vildosola and Javi Valenzuela started in the 8th position and maintained its usual attack strategy, passing racers like Robby Gordon and Bj Baldwin, obtaining a quality result for the Mexican team.
The excellent pit work and truck preparation, allowed a race with just a few setbacks, however, the logistics designed by Gustavo Vildosola and the professionalism of the chase crews finished a good event for the best Mexican off road team, that this year won its third consecutive San Felipe 250.
Vildosola Racing maintains themselves in fight for the points championship in efforts to be crowned as SCORE Trophy Truck Champions and make history once again by being the first mexican team to achieve this goal. Team preparations for this year’s Baja 1000 have already started, a race that will once again define the Trophy Truck Champion.
We would like to thank our sponsors: Mexicana Logistics, Branix, Estación 21, Interproteccion, Red Bull, BF Goodrich, Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Borla Exhaust, King Shocks, PCI Radios, Neo Oils, Method Race Wheels, Howe Performance, Baja Designs, Race Proven, Eibach Springs, Ion Camera y Baja Traveler.
Vildosola Racing congratulates Apdaly Lopez for being the first Mexican driver to win the Baja 500.
Tuesday, May 12, 2015.- It was a clean race with no flats or setbacks, Fernanda and Fer Vildosola arrived in second place in the traditional Code Racing For Boobs, celebrated this weekend, in one of the most recognized tracks in the off road history; the famous Laguna Salada.
With 50 vehicles from all over the region, the SVT Raptor from Vildosola Racing crossed the Salada desert with an average speed of 50.21 mph finishing the race with a final time of 2:09:03 only a few minutes behind Arlette Gomez from PIN racing.
Driving for the first time, mother and daughter, did an excellent job behind the wheel of the Vildosola Racing Ford Raptor, which has a 650 horsepower engine and reaches speeds of over 130 mph. The excellent logistics and the work of their co driver Javier Valenzuela and Adam Shreve, once again helped the Mexican team to add another podium to their list.
Vildosola Racing supported the foundation “Mujeres que Viven" whose mission is to help women with breast cancer in Mexicali, Mexico providing support in different ways during the course of the treatment.
Congratulations to Fernanda and Fer Vildósola for this great achievement.

With a race time of 8:38:36 in a inaugural race, Vildosola Racing finished 5th in the Bud Light SCORE Baja Sur 500, starting in Los Cabos and finishing in the historical capital of the state: Loreto.
Starting in the top 3, Tavo Vildósola and Javi Valenzuela maintained an excellent pace and led the race on corrected time. Unfortunately, a problem with a line in the power steering system held back the #21 Trophy Truck for over 50 minutes, losing race time and positions. However, the excellent logistics work of the chase trucks and pit crew kept the team in contention.
With racers from around the world, the first SCORE race organized in Baja California Sur challenged the drivers with a different kind of terrain. With beautiful scenery between Los Cabos and Loreto and thousands of spectators, Vildosola Racing felt at home thanks to the warm welcome from the fans in southern Baja.
The team now looks forward to the 2015 Bud Light SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada next June to keep pushing towards the 2015 SCORE International Points Championship.

Las Vegas NV, Sunday March 15th 2015.- Starting in the 11th position, Vildosola Racing reaches the finish line in the top 5 of over 50 Trick Trucks that battled in the Las Vegas Desert, in what is considered the most important off road race in the USA, the Mint 400.
With a race time of 06:14:10 Tavo Vildósola and Javi Valenzuela advanced from the 11th starting position to 5th, in spite of the setbacks due to an accident where several drivers where involved. The team executed the race plan efficiently and showed great potential, in their second Mint 400.
It was a fairly clean race for the team, without mechanical issues and only two flat tires which caused the team extra time upon placing the flat tire back on the rack, since Best In The Desert rules state they must not be left behind.Vildosola Racing continues to be the best Mexican off road team in history, conquering races in both Mexico and the United States. The team is now preparing for the second SCORE race of this season, in Baja California Sur, where the team hopes for another overall win to continue leading the points championship after a first overall in the San Felipe 250.

With a race time of 4:03:41, Vildosola Racing enters the SCORE International record books by winning one of the races with the toughest terrain for the third year in a row, the San Felipe 250. The record started in 2013, when Gustavo and Tavo Vildósola along with Javi Valenzuela started a winning streak that seems unstoppable. With this victory Vildosola Racing sets a new record of the only team to win the San Felipe 250 four times, three being back to back wins in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Starting in the 13th position out of 20 Trophy Trucks from Mexico and the U.S., Trophy Truck #21 proved once again that this is it’s track maintaining a 63.77mph average. The team had a clean race that allowed them to have the best elapsed time possible and maintain leadership on corrected time.
The whole team, lead by Gustavo Vildósola, had an excellent logistic plan, executed by chase trucks and pit crews which lead to this historical victory.
The 2015 series starts off on the right foot for Vildosola, and it’s expected to continue through the entire SCORE International Championship. Setting sights on the opportunity to have the #1 plate on the truck next year. The team is very united and as strong as ever, looking forward to representing Mexico once again in the world of Off Road.

View publicationEven though having an excellent 2014 season with 4 top three finishes in Mexico and the United States, being the leaders of the SCORE International points championship and being one step away from once again making history, in this Baja 1000, Vildosola Racing abandoned the race at mile 220 due to mechanical problems.
Tavo Vildosola and Javi Valenzuela, aboard Trophy Truck #21 started from Ensenada last Thursday and suffered a rollover at race mile 197. After the accident, TT#21 began having problems with the engine, losing valuable time.
After an intense mobilization by the crew due to their excellent logistics planning, they arrived to mile 220 where they worked on the engine. Unfortunately, the damage was irreparable.
“There are good days and there are bad days, but that’s how racing works,” said Tavo Vildosola.
Vildosola Racing has won two consecutive Peninsula Run Baja 1000’s. First in 2010, becoming the first Mexican team to ever achieve such a feat, the second time coming in 2012, writing a new chapter in the history books for Mexican motorsports and in the world of off road.
“Galindo Motorsports and Gustavo Vildosola win the Championship” In other news, Vildosola Racing’s teammates, Galindo Motorsports with Trophy Truck #7 driven by Steven Eugenio, Gustavo Vildósola, Adam Pfankuch and Tj Flores arrived at La Paz with a total race time of 24:46:26, in the 6th position this Baja 1000.
With this finish, Galindo Motorsports and their strategic alliance with Vildósola Racing came on top winning the 2014 SCORE Points Championship.
Vildosola Racing congratulates Fidel Galindo, Steven Eugenio and the whole crew for this accomplishment. We would like to thank our sponsors for their support throughout this season, as well as the entire Vildosola Racing crew for their loyalty in this 2014 season.
Yesterday, Vildosola Racing participated in the qualifying round for this years' edition of the TECATE-SCORE Baja 1000 that took place in Las Vegas NV, during the SEMA Show.
With a time of 4:06.420, Tavo and Javi qualified for 5th starting position, but due to a penalty for taking down a cone in the track, Trophy Truck #21 took a 5 second penalty and lost 4 positions, leaving them starting 9th for the race this Thursday November 13th.
In the other hand, on board Steven Eugenio's TT #7 and with a time of 4:14.196, Gustavo Vildósola qualified for 13th starting position. Gus along with Fidel Galindo, TJ Flores and Adam Pfancook will race to the finish line to La Paz in this years' Baja 1000.
Vildosola Racing is one step away of yet again going down in history, this time seeking the 2014 SCORE International Championship that would make them the first mexican team in history to achieve this feat.
Throughout history, Gustavo and Tavo Vildósola and Javier Valenzuela, along with the experienced crew at Vildosola Racing, have demonstrated that the Península Run is their thing, having won first place in two consecutive editions, in 2010 and 2012.
The team continues their preparation for the race, which is around the corner. In a matter of days we’ll see who gets to carry the coveted number 1 for next year’s season.
With a final time of 1:34:44.716 in a two heat race, Vildosola Racing won second place in the Rigid Industries SCORE Desert Challenge 2014, which took place this weekend at the Coyne Powersports Motorplex in Imperial Valley CA.
With fifteen trophy trucks battling against each other, in a very complicated circuit that not only tested the drivers and navigator’s skills but also challenged them to drive on a certain type of terrain, complicating visibility. However, Tavo and Javi finished in second place, making Vildosola Racing the current leader of the SCORE International Championship.
With drivers from Mexico and United States on the list, the Trophy Truck #21 started in the pole position.
The race was divided into two days, it started on Saturday at 11:00 am and due to weather conditions the second heat was ran on Sunday at 6:30 am. This last minute change forced the teams to review their strategy.
This result adds to the podiums list that Vildosola Racing has reached this season and gives them a great advantage for the biggest SCORE race, the famous Baja 1000, which they hope to conquer for the third time in a row on the Peninsula Run mode, where Tavo will share the wheel with the American driver Steven Eugenio and his father, Gus.
In further news, three great legends of Baja will be driving together for the first time; Gus Vildosola, Fidel Galindo and Rodrigo Ampudia will also be battling to raise the cup on La Paz, BCS.
After an excellent run for the team, Vildosola Racing continued its' aggressive strategy in the 2014 Tecate SCORE Baja 500, and even after several mechanical complications managed to finish 14th in the race.
With a time of 10:26:58 Trophy Truck # 21, finished the third race of the year in the SCORE International Championship. The team’s preparation and determination was a key factor to complete the challenge, keeping them among the favorites to make history, becoming the first Mexican team to win the SCORE championship.
he next goal is to win the 2014 Baja 1000, a Peninsula Run, which the team has won twice.
The team caused a great impact in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a great finish in the race”.
Las Vegas NV, Sunday march 16th 2014.- After a gruesome round of time trials, with over 50 Trick Trucks competing and a race with a lot of obstacles, Vildosola Racing overcame the odds against them and attacked the course with speed and strategy to complete the General Tire Mint 400 and elevate the name of Mexico being in the top 2 best racers in the race and in the world of off road.
With a time of 6:28:54,Tavo Vildosola and Javi Valenzuela climbed from 8th off the starting line to 2nd place, despite complications during the race. The excellent teamwork displayed allowed to recover some of the time they lost in flats and a problem with the map sensor in the motor.
With this result, Vildosola Racing has its third podium in a row this year, after the BITD Parker 425 where they won second place by a margin of 10 seconds, and the first place overall in the28th Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250.
Results in 2014 have been great for the team and hope to cointinue with this pace that confirms the national and international leadership of Vildosola Racing, a team that represents a whole country, in a sport that was preciously dominated by americans.

With a recorded time of 3 hours, 31 minutes and 27 seconds, Vildosola Racing achieved what seemed impossible - a comeback from second to last place to win 1st place overall in the 28th Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250, repeating last year’s win.
More than 20 Trophy Trucks lined up for the race, and with no qualifying to determine starting positions, Vildosola Racing would start in 20th place, only in front of Jessica Mcmillin. A few last minute changes in the course delayed the start, but the team never lost focus. Battling an extreme climate and 19 vehicles ahead, Tavo Vildosola and Javier Valenzuela fought until the last minute, coming from behind and steadily passing cars from the first miles of the race.
With a clean race, no setbacks and a average speed of 62.14 miles per hour, TT#21 claimed a new title as the only Mexican team to win back-to-back overall in the San Felipe 250.
This result makes for two consecutive podiums in 2014 for Vildosola Racing, in what is hoped to be a series of triumphs throughout the season. This victory places them in 1st place in the 2014 SCORE Championship.
Next, the team will head to the General Tire Mint 400 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, March 14-16.

Vildosola Racing packed up and headed North to Parker, Arizona, USA, for the Best in the Desert Parker 425, the first race of the 2014 season. After battling the deteriorated course, Tavo Vildosola brought the #21 BraNix Ford Raptor across the finish line in 2nd place, a perfect way to celebrate his birthday.
Tavo qualified in the top 10 and would start the race 9th off the line.
By the time he came in for his first pit stop after 142 miles, he had battled his way up three positions to 6th place. He continued to carry the same pace, climbing three more spots to come in for pit stop two running in 3rd.
Taking off back on to the course, Tavo kicked up his speed to jump up one more spot and run in 2nd place for most of lap three, right on the tail of the leader. He continued to punch the gas and put on the pressure all the way through the finish, crossing the line just 10 seconds behind the leader, for a solid podium position of 2nd.
Next, the team will head to San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico, for the 28th Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250.

June 2,2013.-With a time of 11:27:35 Vildosola Racing rallied up 5 positions in the 45th running of the Baja 500, finishing in 12th place in class and 1 hour and 22 minutes behind overall winner Robby Gordon.
Despite a mechanical mishap at race mile 92, where the team was forced to change a transmission, excellent coordination and team work allowed them to change it in under 1 hour.
After a tough battle on the track, Gustavo Vildósola, Tavo Vildósola and Javier Valenzuela, finished the race in the Trophy Truck #21 with some brake problems, however the team had flawless logistics and pit strategy.
With this, Vildosola Racing concludes their second race of the year and remains one of the best in the of SCORE International Championship standings. The teams preparation continues to win the next race, the HDRA Reno 500 which will take place in the month of July.
April 23,2013.-For the first time in SCORE Baja racing history competitors in Trophy Truck will qualify to determine their starting positions at the historic Baja 500. Yesterday the drawing was held at SCORE headquarters to determine the starting position for qualifying to be held on May 30th in an undisclosed track near Ensenada. Vildosola Racing drew the 3rd seed with the intention of establishing a strong starting position on the long awaited 45th Baja 500 that will be hosted in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico from May 31st to June 2nd of this year.
Vildosola Racing continues to prepare diligently for the upcoming Baja 500. Coming off a strong performance at the San Felipe 250 where they took the overall victory, they will now try to build on their points lead in the SCORE Trophy Truck division.
A few days ago, SCORE decided to punish us with a 90 minute penalty, thereby robbing us of our first place overall in the 2012 Baja 1000. We do not agree with the penalty or the way this situation was handled by SCORE, Sal Fish and Paul Fish. We consider the punishment unjust, and not only that but it transcends the sports world and affects our reputation and our name, one that we've proudly held and taken care of for several generations.
We are deeply disappointed in this situation. We don't race for trophies, money or prizes. It's not our job. We race for pride, family, our fans and for Mexico.
The Vildosola Racing family is extremely proud to be able to race in Baja California. It's racing at home. We appreciate and thank everyone who has supported us over the years, and most of all the ones who still do. If we've been able to be a good team, it's because of you.
We have been a tireless promoter of SCORE and off road racing in Mexico, especially in our state of Baja California and our brother state Baja California Sur. For us, SCORE is no longer a professional and impartial organization. We demand that SCORE maintain their official results, therefore invalidating the protest since it was presented beyond the stated protest period.
GP1(B): In long course events protests must be filed in writing and delivered to the race director... not later than the final posting of the unofficial results, which is one (1) hour before the hearing of protests.
Vildosola Racing will be racing 4 vehicles at the Mexicana Logistcs this year.
The Geiser Trophy Truck (21), New Trophy Truck (4), ½ -1600 and the Protruck (221). We will race 2 trophy trucks so we can make modifications on the new TT for the Baja 1000.
We hope to see you all there supporting and cheering us like always!
This past Saturday the 28 was the third race of the CODE series, the Jacume Grand Prix. Juan Pablo was ready to race the ½ 1600 with Javi Valenzuela and Willie Valdez III as co-driver. Javi drove the first heat, starting in 7th place out of 12 vehicles. It was a fun but very technical course where the vehicle performed to perfection. He reached the finish line in 2nd place in the 1600 class.
In the second heat, Juan Pablo started in second position with Javi as co-driver. Everything was working well until the second lap when #1604 began to suffer problems shifting gears. However, he was 4th to the finish line and placed 3rd place for the entire day.
The original plan for the Protruck was to be driven by Fernanda, who was in Jacume days before to start preparing and prerunning. Unfortunately the night before the race, she suffered a fracture to the heel bone. Juan Pablo was the ideal candidate to take over the wheel of #1849 which started in the 5th position. The vehicle suffered one flat tire, but finished in 2nd place. It was decided by the team to not race the 2nd heat due to problems with the steering. Despite all this, the novice driver earned another 3rd place trophy for the day.
Vildosola Racing is very proud to have participated in another CODE race. We are now preparing for the Mexicana Logistics 300 where we will also be celebrating Mexicana Logistics' 20th birthday. The race will take place on Saturday October 6 at the Laguna Salada.
A year after the unforgettable victory of the first Mexican team to win the Baja 1000, came the 44th edition of the race. There were 278 vehicles prepared to take on this tremendous task, among them were 32 trophy trucks. This year’s 705 mile course of extremely complicated terrain was a loop, starting and ending in Ensenada. “There’s lots of boulders which we have to watch out for, the course if very technical and in conclusion very bad,” said Tavo.
The Vildosola Racing/ Red Bull trophy truck was second off the line behind #54 Jesse James. Tavo was behind the wheel along with Javi Valenzuela, receiving the green flag at 11:14am. Only a few minutes after starting the race there was an incident never before seen in the history of off road racing. At race mile 4.5 there was a semi truck blocking the entrance to Doña Petra’s Canyon, which did not permit the race to continue. The 15 trophy trucks which were already racing were stopped for over an hour waiting for the obstacle to be removed, while the rest of the competition was held back at the starting line. When the semi was finally moved, the race was restarted from that point with one minute intervals between each truck.
Tavo caught up with Jesse while he was pitting in Ojos Negros where Team Vildosola was also scheduled for a fuel splash, but upon realizing the advantage they had on Jesse the pit was moved a few miles forward. This was a good strategy since Jesse was unable to catch them again. At race mile 97 at the entrance to the Summit they lost the Power Steering RAM and were down for a little over 2 hours. The chase crew was able to repair the damage and the trophy truck was back on the road, but this setback positioned #21 behind the ½ 1600’s.
Approximately at race mile 110 they lost an alternator, leaving all the work to alternator #2 which failed a few miles later. Tavo tried his best not to give up but upon reaching Borrego at RM 196 the decision was made to withdraw from the race. The engine was misfiring due to a lack of voltage and they were already 3 hours behind the leaders. Changing the alternators would take over an hour to complete and both Tavo and Gus decided the best thing to do would be to retire and hope for better results in future races.
With only a 55.76% finishing rate, Andy McMillin took first place, Nick Vanderwey came in second and third place in the trophy trucks category went to Bryce Menzies who also won the points championship. foto por My Baja Photo

The Primm 300 race, which usually takes place in the small town of Primm, Nevada on September 9-11, was moved a few months ago to the small fishing village of San Felipe, Baja California. This was an unexpected yet pleasant change to some, being that the same exact course had just been run a few months ago at the Mastercraft Safety San Felipe 250 in February, making it an advantage of a sort.
Rob MacCachren #20 was the first trophy truck off the start line at at 7:00am in 94°F weather with some wind in favor to help with visibility. Tavo with Javi Valenzuela as co-driver, in Vildosola’s #21 trophy truck started 4th at 7:03am behind MacCachren, Cameron Steele # 16 and Adam Householder #24. Upon reaching race mile 20, Tavo passed Householder and Steele and by mile 70 he was 50 seconds behind MacCachren. Then at mile marker 90 Vildosola’s #21 was 20 seconds behind Rob and was able to pass him when MacCachren pulled into his pit, this immediately put 1:00 between them. 20 miles later, #21 still had a 1:15 lead over MacCachren, after stopping for a fuel top off they still had a 23 second lead over #20. When dropping into Matomi, Tavo had a 1:03 lead on Rob, which turned into 1:33 as they came out of Matomi wash. Main pit was located at race mile 177, with a secure 2:00 lead on MacCachren, #21 pitted for a tire change and fuel filler and left 1:10 ahead of Rob. It was at race mile 196 when the lead expanded into 1:45, and then the left rear tire came loose and sheared the studs off the hub. The nearest chase team had to come in and change the hub and repair all the collateral damage which took about 2 hours. After getting the truck up and running, at mile 224, the axle came out of the housing and lost the team another 20-30 minutes in repairs. Lastly at mile 240 the right front shock blew and consequently caused two right flats. With only 12 more miles to finish, the Vildosola Racing trophy truck limped to the finish line for the 9th position. This was the 4th race of the season for SCORE International leaving only one more to determine the champion for the points this year, the granddaddy of all races: the Baja 1000. *Ride along with Tavo for the first 15 minutes of the San Felipe Challenge of Champions aboard Trophy Truck. For additional info on Vildosola Racing, contact Fernanda Vildosola – Media Relations at fvildosola@gmail.com or (858) 689-0444The 43rd edition of the Baja 500 took place on June 4th 2011, in the beautiful port of Ensenada, Baja California. Trophy Truck #21 of Vildosola Racing started in the 28th out of 29 positions, making the usual challenge a bit trickier. This year’s course was more demanding than others due to the roughness and technicalities. The strategy was for Tavo to start behind the wheel and hand driving duties over to Gus at race mile 301 at Llano Colorado and have Willie Valdez as co-driver for the whole race.
At approximately 10:13am Vildosola Racing’s trophy truck was off the starting line. At race mile 11, behind the dust of another truck, Tavo rolled, landing on its side. With the help of many spectators, they were able to get the truck back on its wheels, but lost about 15 minutes of valuable time. The truck continued on it’s way to the next programmed pit stop at race mile 100 for a 30 gallon splash of fuel. What the team didn’t realize is that some fuel had been spilled during the roll, so by race mile 200 they were out of fuel. Fortunately one of the chase trucks was able to reach them and supply fuel to get to the next pit at race mile 207 to fill the tank and change tires.
Around mile 235, halfway into the race, they lost an alternator and proceeded to run on the backup alternator to continue the race. Upon reaching the highway they suffered a right rear blowout having the cords wrap around the rear housing, stopping the car completely. They were helped by another team’s crew who cut the cords off the housing and enabled the truck to proceed.
At race mile 301, Llano Colorado was the scheduled driver change. Gus took the drivers seat while the crew changed tires, refueled and installed a light bar. By race mile 302 they had lost the rear brakes, due to the cords cutting the brake line in the incident before the schedules driver change. Continuing the race with front brakes only for the next 70 miles. Then came an unprogrammed pit stop at race mile 371, where they capped off the rear brake line and made a final fuel top off. At race mile 440 the lights on the truck went out due to the second battery being drained. The trophy truck lost all its power and the engine seized to run. A Spectator came to the rescue and gave them a jump start, the problem being that there were still no lights. The persistent duo continued on their way lighting the race course with only a hand held flashlight that was borrowed from and on looker.
Finally at around 9:20pm, after 11:09:08 , the team reached the finish line in the 14 physical position, but 12th on corrected time. First place went to Bryce Menzies, second place went to Rob MacCachren and arriving in third place was Andy McMillin. Although it was a tough and demanding race for team Vildosola, everyone was happy to make it to the finish line. For now this means a starting position within the first 12 trophy trucks for the granddaddy of all races, the Baja 1000 of 2011.

The 25th annual MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 took place this past weekend. As 28 trophy trucks lined up for the green flag, Vildosola Racing’s Red Bull Ford F-150 #21 with Tavo behind the wheel, was ready to take on the day’s challenge with the 4th starting position. Preceded by long-time competitors, #84 Nick Vanderwey, #98 Gary Weyhrich and #8 Roger Norman.
Off the start line at approximately 9:47am, the Vildosola Racing Trophy Truck was quickly able to advance in positions, by passing Norman by race mile 3, Weyhrich by mile 8, and Vanderway by race mile 9. The Mexicana Logistics/Red Bull truck was able to maintain the lead for more than 80 miles, after the Diablo dry lake bed the transmission started to slip. The nearest pit was 12 mile away at Morelia Junction so Tavo and Willie decided to baby the truck and make the pit. The truck finally gave out about a ¼ mile from the pit at which point the transmission was changed. The problem ended up being that the housing of the transmission broke causing the transmission to separate from the motor.
Approximately 40 minutes later, Trophy Truck #21 was back on the road and mindset on reaching the finish line. They also experienced issues with the truck overheating in the washes and losing the brakes the last 12 miles. With an average speed of 49.76 mph and a time of 5:03:57, they finished the race in 13th place behind Cameron Steele and Dave Crinklaw.
Vildosola Racing’s next performance will take place in La Paz, Baja California at the Dos Mares 500 race, which will be a debut for Vildosola Racing.
Vildosola Racing would like to thank their sponsors for their continuous support: Mexicana Logistics, Red Bull, BFGoodrich, Mastercraft, Fox Shox, California Metals, Papas and Beer, Aguilas del Desierto, Eibach Springs, PIAA and MSD.
Noviembre 2010
Accomplishing one of their lifetime goals, the Mexican team Vildosola Racing was the first vehicle at the finish line in this 43rd edition of the world famous Baja 1000. This giving them the pride of being the first Mexican team in history to ever win a Baja 1000 overall, as if this title wasn’t enough, the Trophy Truck #21 also broke time and speed records of any other Baja 1000 winner in previous years.
Tavo started the day in Ensenada with Javi as codriver, they had the second starting position behind Roger Norman. They suffered only two flats all day, one at Laguna del Diablo and another at San Juanico. By mile 334 they made up lost time and even had a 5 minute lead on Norman and 9 on BJ Baldwin, just in time for the driver change at El Crucero.
Then it was Gus that took the wheel with Sergio Reyna as his codriver. They had an excellent run with no problems, this letting them maintain the pace in the leadership position. At San Ignacio Tavo and Javi took over Trophy Truck #21 again. At that time they had a minute lead on Norman and 4 on BJ Baldwin. After passing check point #8 at Santa Rita, they had a problem with the transmission and lost first gear. Tavo and Javi continued carefully to the finish line to secure the winning position.
The Vildosola Racing Trophy Truck arrived at the finish line at 6:29am with a record total time of 19hours and 4 seconds, making it the fastest finish of any other Baja 1000 winner in past years, even beating the motorcycles by 19 minutes.
Second place went to Robby Gordon arriving at the finish line at 6:55am, third went to Roger Norman who arrived at 7:15am and fourth went to BJ Baldwin arriving at 7:27am.
After more than 7 years of trying, on the bicentennial anniversary of Mexico’s revolution, Vildosola Racing took home the honor of being the first Mexican team to win the ledgendary Baja 1000.

On Saturday October 2nd was the seventh edition of the CODE Mexicana Logistics 300. The day started off very promising, with some rain to calm the dirt and give better visibility. There were 192 entries of which more than 130 where 4 wheel vehicles and 9 of them were same category competition for Vildosola Racing Trophy Truck #21.
Gus was behind the wheel first, starting off in the seventh position at 10:47am. Together with his codriver Sergio Reyna, they successfully completed their two laps without any problems. After two laps, they came into the main pit for the scheduled driver change. Vildosola Racing Trophy Truck #21 came in the pit a few seconds physically behind Juan Carlos Lopez “El Pin”, but leading the race on corrected time. Once Tavo was in the drivers’ seat, with Javi Valenzuela as codriver, they took off one second in front of Juan Carlos Lopez, and he wasn’t able to catch up to them. Tavo completed the final two laps of the race with excellent results, finishing the race with a total time of 3:19:36, a whole 22 minutes and 56 seconds in front of second place, Gary Magness.
Vildosola Racing is very proud to have participated once again in the Mexicana Logistics 300 and to continue representing their home town of Mexicali. We are now preparing for our next race, the 43rd running of the legendary Baja 1000. Vildosola Racing would like to thank their sponsers: Mexicana Logistics, Red Bull, BFGoodrich, Mastercraft, California Metals, Fox Shox, Papas and Beer, Aguilas del Desierto, Eibach Springs, PIAA, MSD, Ogio, Chase Cam and My Baja Photo. This past Friday the 20th, was the 14th running of the infamous TSCO Vegas to Reno race. There were over 230 entries, among them 21 trick trucks including Vildosola Racing's #21.
It had been a few years since the team last competed in this race and the “no prerunning” rule made it extra difficult. Yet, the father - son duo made it to the finish line with a 3rd place podium finish.
Tavo started the driving duties, 5th off the starting line, and had a very smooth run. By pit 1 (race mile 30) he had the truck in 1st place having already passed Jerry Whelchel, BJ Baldwin, Sam Berri and Chuck Hovey. At pit 9, during a non schedules pit stop, Rick Johnson passed Tavo, gaining some lead time.
Then at pit 12 it was Gus' turn to take over. He also had a good day, but suffered a flat after only 10 miles, and another flat 3 miles later. Gus had to be extremely cautious of not having another flat until the next pit, for it would be the end of the day. This gave Roger Norman time to catch up.
Vildosola was 2nd at the finish line, but ended in 3rd on corrected time.
This successful race could not have been possible without the help of all the members of our support team and our sponsers: Mexicana Logistics, Red Bull, BF Goodrich, Fox, Shox, Mastercraft, California Metals, Eibach Springs, PIAA, MSD, Aguilas del Desierto, Papas and Beer, Ogio, Chase Cam and My Baja Photo
Mexicali, Baja California On Saturday June 5, the 42nd running of the SCORE Baja 500 took place in Ensenada, Baja California. The team from Mexicali was 24th off the starting line at 10:10am. Both Tavo Vildosola and his codriver Javi Valenzuela knew they had tough competition ahead of them, especially with 23 Trophy Trucks starting in front of them, including excellent racers such as Andy McMillin, Roger Norman, BJ Baldwin and Rob MacCachren, among others.
The Trophy Truck ran perfectly all day, with only two flats. This smooth running allowed Tavo a great opportunity to pass the trophy trucks ahead of him until he finally reached 3rd place at race mile 220 behind McMillin and Jesse Jones.
At Llano Colordo, race mile 228, they were only 5 minutes behind second place and 7 minutes from first place. Finally between race mile 420 and 438 he was able to put Jesse Jones behind him, placing Trophy Truck #21 in second place where he maintained pace until the finish line at 7:32pm.
The Trophy Truck ran the 438.81 mile course in 9:22:14 at an average of 46.83 miles per hour.
“We had a good pace going and by the time we got to where the driver change was programmed, I think I was eight minutes behind Jesse Jones and five minutes behind Andy McMillin so we decided if the horse is doing well, then don’t change it. Our biggest disadvantage here was starting 24th. Both Andy and Jesse started in the top 10, so going through that many cars in the beginning, I think, kind of wore us down a little bit and it allowed them to escape. Closing that gap on such good drivers and the McMillins and Jesse Jones was difficult but we did what we could but in the end, we’re in second place. We accomplished what we came down here for, which was to finish and finish at our own pace. We had a couple of bad-luck races in Laughlin and San Felipe, where we were doing very well and it’s nice to be at the finish line for a change,” says Tavo.
Javi says, “We had a lot of dust the whole race since we started in the 24th position, but slowly we started passing other Trophy Trucks. By race mile 150 we were approximately in 8th place physically. We passed Herbst at Saldaña, he was going about 115 miles per hour and we were doing about 135 miles per hour. It was one of the toughest races I’ve ever been in, we got worn out trying to maintain pace and taking care of the truck, but fortunately we did really well.”
Gus stated, “Tavo started the race at an excellent pace and quickly started passing trophy trucks in spite of all the dust. When the Trophy Truck arrived at Llano Colorado, the competition was so close that I made one of the toughest decisions of the race: not getting in the truck. Both Tavo and I felt that starting out cold at this point would be a disadvantage because it would take a few minutes for me to warm up and pick up pace. Fortunately it was one of the best decisions for the team and we’re proud of Tavo, Javi and the whole team’s performance.”

San Diego, CA/April 2010
On Friday April 16, Vildosola Racing was the surprise of the show at the RedBull X-Fighters in Mexico City.
The team arrived at the capital, ready to conquer the hearts of the public, starting off with the filming of a commercial featuring Tavo as their RedBull athlete and the #21 Trophy Truck.
The following afternoon, the Trophy Truck was displayed at the Angel de la Independencia (independence monument.) The route started at Paseo de la Reforma at the Diana Cazadora statue, anothe monument about ¼ mile away from the Angel. There, the team performed a pit stop changing the tires to simulate a race, and continue on its way.
The X-Fighters freestyle motocross event took place on Friday night, where Tavo was the opening act, showing off the Trophy Truck to more then 40,000 spectators. Being the only Mexican RedBull athlete participating in the event, he was introduced to the crowd as he proudly waved the Mexican flag. Vildosola concluded his participation when he presented his fellow countryman and icon, Chabelo with the key to iniciate the event. The function was suspended after the first round due to rain, yet it was a very exciting experience for both spectators and athletes.
On March 13th the Mexican team, Vildosola Racing participated in the MasterCraft Saftey Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250. Trophy Truck #21 proudly displayed it’s new RedBull colors, being that 2010 brought a stronger union between both Vildosola Racing and RedBull. Also, after much discussion between Gustavo, Tavo and Javi Valenzuela, they decided it would be a great idea to change the trucks’ number to give it a complete image renewal.
It was the 24th edition of this race, and the 34 trophy trucks were programmed to start the race at 10am. The powerful Vildosola Racing RedBull trophy truck started at 9:54am in fifth position with Ron Whitton, Robby Gordon, Tim Herbst and Robby Pierce ahead of them. Tavo was driving and Javi his codriver.
Around race mile 12, they passed Robby Pierce, putting them in 4th place physically. At race mile 18 the were able to put Herbst and Whitton in their dust, and by mile 28 they caught up to Robby Gordon. While in the dusty battle, the trophy suffered a right front flat, giving Herbst, Pierce and Roger Norman a chance to recuperate and pass the #21TT. After changing the tire and continuing on their way, they caught up to Gordon again and were able pass him by race mile 50.
By mile 55, they were runing in Norman’s dust, about 15 seconds behind him but were never able to catch up to him. It was at about RM82 when TT Vildosola Racing RedBull had problems with the rear end. After reviewing possible solutions to continue the race, Gustavo and Tavo decided it would take too long to repair the damage and due to time limitations, it would be impossible to gain back their position. Therefore, they called it a day for Trophy Truck #21.
Vildosola Racing is preparing meticulously for the Baja 500 which will take place in Ensenada from June 4-6 2010.
Mexicali B.C. January 2010.
The 2010 SCORE season opener took place last weekend in the small town of Laughlin, Nevada. It was the 16th annual running of the Laughlin Desert Challenge. This race is the most different of them all, being a short but jagged course, and a two day event. Racers were prepared to qualify for their starting position on Friday morning. With competitors such as Roger Norman, Andy McMillin, BJ Baldwin and Robby Gordon, it was sure to be a tough competition.
Tavo Vildosola, in Vildosola Racing’s TT#4 qualified 2nd with a time of 07:09:71 minutes with Andy McMillin just a few seconds ahead with 07:03:40, and Cameron Steele and Pete Sohren in third and fourth. Saturday afternoon, Andy and Tavo took off from the start/finish line and had a tight competition throughout the race. Andy got a bit of a head start, when on the straightaway Tavo was able to pass him and take the lead for the beginning of lap 1. Laps 2, 3 and 4 gave the spectators an exciting battle between these two young racers, as they shuffled back and forth between 1st and 2nd place. At the last part of lap 4, Tavo had a 6 second lead on McMillin when on a sweeping corner, the left lower A arm bolt broke. It was impossible to fix it in time for a strong finish, leaving the 8 lap victory to Andy McMillin.
JP Vildosola, the youngest of the Vildosola Racing clan, had a successful run on Saturday. His debut was in a class 1-2/1600 against top racers such as Daniel McMillin and Rob MacCachren. JP was running strong 9 minute laps, but having trouble with the spark plug cables that kept getting wet, making him lose a lot of time showing in slower laps. Aside from the car giving JP trouble, he was still able to complete the 6 laps of the race.
Day two was Gus’ turn to take the trophy for a run. Starting out in a 24th position, he took off against Robbie Pierce, when on RM 1.5 the trophy truck began to have some trouble. The upper left front shock cap broke and stopped the trophy truck for the rest of the day. Again, Andy McMillin took the lead, Pete Soheren placed 2nd and BJ Baldwin took 3rd.
The 1-2/1600 was driven by Javi Valenzuela, who also experienced trouble with the front end, side lining him at RM3.
The team is now looking forward to the upcoming San Felipe 250, which takes place on March 12 – 14.

The Vildósola Racing/Red Bull Ford F-150, sporting the traditional number 4, will be attacking courses throughout the deserts of Baja California and Nevada with their sights set on victory in 2010.
The end of the 2009 season brought a good outlook on the upcoming season with a 4th place finish in the Baja 1000 and a first place overall finish in the CODE Race Ready 275.
Starting this month, the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge will launch the teams’ 2010 schedule. This race is one of the most spectator-friendly of the year, taking place in Laughlin, Nevada on January 15 – 17. In 2009 edition of the race, the truck successfully ran the course on Saturday with Tavo placing 1st beating the likes of Robby Gordon, BJ Baldwin, Roger Norman and the best drivers in the series by a few seconds. Sunday proved a tougher challenge for the team, when the trophy truck began to suffer engine problems. By the end of lap three they decided to call it a race.
The team is excited and ready to start a new year. Javi Valenzuela and the rest of the crew have been working diligently on prepping the Trophy Truck. Since the end of last year, they have made some changes in parts and equipment to enhance the trucks’ potential; each time proving better results in the races to come.
Also new for Vildosola Racing will be the debut of Gus’ youngest son, Juan Pablo in the ½-1600 class at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge. Juan Pablo or JP as he prefers to be called, ran his first race as a driver late last year in the CODE series and finished a respectful 9th place in his class. This year he will drive the Saturday event with Javi Valenzuela driving the Sunday event. JP is ecstatic to follow in his father and brother’s footsteps in the racing world.
With the pride of Mexico in our hearts, Vildosola Racing is prepared to conquer 2010, kicking it off with a strong performance at Laughlin.

This weekend at the 42nd running of the legendary Baja 1000, Trophy Truck #4 sponsored by Red Bull of Mexican team Vildosola Racing, started in 14th position out of 27 Trophy Trucks with Gus Vildosola behind the wheel. The truck ran smoothly until race mile 80 when they had a rear flat tire, though this did not cause major delay as it was quickly changed by one of our chase crews. Durning the flat tire Vildosola lost a position on the course to the team of Andy and Scott McMillin. They later regained the track position by passing BJ Baldwin and Roger Norman at race mile 110 where the two previous Baja 1000 champions were involved in a small incident.
It was at RM152 at around 2pm when Tavo took over the driver’s seat of Trophy Truck #4. At this point the truck was 10th physically on the road, by Borrego (race mile 200) Tavo had gained two positions and was making time on the leaders. At race mile 300 the Trophy Truck had moved up physically and was running 5th on the road. Coming out of Matomi wash, trailing Bobby Baldwin, the Truck unexpectedly ran out of gas causing the first major delay of the race. Due to this, 4 SCORE Trophy Trucks got back by the #4 in the 15 minutes of down time Tavo and Javi had putting them 9th physically on the road.
By race mile 400 the team was able to regain position on the track once again by coming out of San Matias in 4th position physically. After a quick pit stop at race mile 420 before going up to the legendary and hazardous Mike’s loop they realized the motor was leaking water and quickly the temperature began to rise. They came back to the pit where they lost approximately 10 minutes and a very important position to Roger Norman pushing them back to 5th physically on the road.
Even though they finished in the same 5th position physically there were several reshufflings of the deck throughout the rest of the race. During the Mike’s loop Vildosola was in Roger Norman’s dust causing a slight driver error and setting them back another 5 to 8 minutes. At race mile 550 Trophy Truck #4 was gaining time on Robby Gordon, and by race mile 630 they were only a minute behind him where they kept a continuous pace until they reached the finish line.
Vildosola Trophy truck #4 arrived at the finish line at about 2am, with a physical position of 5th, but was 4th on corrected time.
Vildosola Racing, Gus, Tavo and Javi would like to thank their tireless crew, amazing fans and key sponsors in making the event a success!!
